Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition that happens when our bodies have trouble using a transporter called insulin. Insulin helps the sugar in our food give us energy. In some people, their bodies don't make enough insulin, or the insulin doesn't work as well as it should. When that happens, the sugar can't get into the cells to give us energy, so it stays in the blood. Too much sugar in the blood can make people feel sick. One type means the body doesn't make enough insulin (Type 1), and the other type means the body has trouble using the insulin it makes (Type 2).
